RRCY youths gather outside the dormitory during the Center's anniversary celebration held February 14 of this year. The institution is always filled with activities. The DSWD Regional Rehabilitation Center for Youth or RRCY will open its door tomorrow, March 1, for the public to watch the U.S. Navy Seventh Fleet Band conduct a master class for the 62 residents of this Center.

The visit will give the Children-in-Conflict-with-Law (CICL) residing at the Center a rare opportunity to interact with America’s high – energy band. Marcela Lim, Head Social Worker of the RRCY, bared that the Center has already an existing band, with musical instruments donated by the UNICEF.

Lim said music is therapy; hence, she is happy that there are groups or private citizens, even from outside the country, who render voluntary service or extend support that would contribute to the development of the total well – being of the children.

The master class starts at two o’clock p.m., while the acoustic performance follows, all at the RRCY grounds, at Barangay Sto. Niño, Tanauan, Leyte.

For press people who will cover the event, they are advised to coordinate with the Social Marketing Unit of the DSWD Field Office Eight, at telephone number 321-2040 or 321-3090, and look for VINA AQUINO, JOAN BACLAY, or MARICEL SIMBAJON.

The U.S. Navy Seventh Fleet Band is in a roadshow dubbed as “America in 3D,” organized by the U.S. Embassy to highlight diplomacy, development and defense programs of the U.S. Government.
