Sustainable Livelihood Program (SLP) Regional Program Coordinator Herman Mangalao of the DSWD Field Office Eight proudly reports that the region was able to extend livelihood assistance to 60, 016 beneficiaries from last year’s target of 47, 743.
This refers to those sourced from the regular fund, the Yolanda Reconstruction and Rehabilitation, PAMANA, and the Bottoms Up Budget. Out of said number, 25, 780 are Pantawid Pamilya beneficiaries who are the program’s priority, such that they will be uplifted all the way from poverty, with the monthly education and health/nutrition cash grants already being given for the good of their children.
The remaining 34, 236 are non – Pantawid Pamilya beneficiaries. Either they were extended seed capital for micro-enterprise development, or supported by way of employment. This year’s target is 37, 747 beneficiaries.
The SLP is a community – based capacity – building program that seeks to improve the program participants’ socio – economic status.
“We implement the program through the Community – Driven Enterprise Development (CDED) approach, which equips program participants to actively contribute to production and labor markets by looking at available resources and accessible market,” Mangalao pointed out.#
