Brgy. Tuyo in MacArthur was proclaimed as the Kapit-Bisig Laban sa Kahirapan–Comprehensive and Integrated Delivery of Social Services (Kalahi-CIDSS) Regional Awardee for the Bayan Category or Model Barangay Implementing the DSWD Empowerment Program for CY 2015- 2016 during the 3rd Bayani Ka Awards held last month. Said award willl qualify Tuyo as Eastern Visayas’ nominee for the national selection which will be conducted this March 2017.
Morover, Tuyo was also declalred as the first barangay in Leyte to complete its Kalahi-CIDSS Sub-Project under the NCDDP Fund Cycle2.
The project accomplished by the community volunteers themselves, in cooperation with Tuyo Barangay Council and the Local Government Unit of MacArthur, was the construction of their 0.300 km. barangay road, with a total Kalahi-CIDSS grant worth PhP1, 240, 170.75 and an LGU contribution of 7, 2253.75. The project started on October 3, 2016 and was completed within 82 working days only.
Brgy. Tuyo was selected together with 11 other villages out of 45 barangays in MacArthur during the Municipal Inter-Barangay Forum–Participatory Resource Allocation. The activity is an avenue for community members to exercise their decision-making right to choose and prioritize projects proposed by communities, based on an agreed criteria and rules set by the assembly, composed of representatives from barangays.
Today, Tuyo is now preparing for the construction of their project under the 3rd Cycle fund.
