Tacloban City, October 5, 2017- Thru the convergence strategy, the Department of Social Welfare and Development led an Information Caravan named as DSWD May Malasakit Caravan, Friday, September 29 of this year, in Daram, Samar. It was conducted to bring programs and services of the DSWD and other partner agencies closer to the communities.

For DSWD, the Protective Service Unit (PSU) Social Worker Tiffany Go discussed on how Human Trafficking works. Pantawid Pamilya Parent Leaders and other Pantawid Pamilya and Kalahi-CIDSS beneficiaries were warned to be vigilant of any suspicious “trafficker” in the community.

In her talk, PSU Project Development Officer III Rhoda Ercilla gave a detailed situation on how some victims in Daram were trafficked. She said they were promised of a good job in certain cities but ended up in prostitution.

She encouraged them to report if there are cases, same as to children who’ve been abused by their parents or other people. The social worker also announced to never hesitate to report because the DSWD is always ready to serve and listen to any complaint.

Meanwhile, Police Officer III Mary Jane Rueda talked about Violence Against Women and Children or VAWC. She told women, who go thru physical/emotional/economic abuse from their husbands or partners, to assert their rights. #
