“I’m going to buy 2 sacks of rice for my business.”
“I’m going to buy materials to fix our house.”
“I’m going to use it as capital for my small business.”
“I’m going to buy a pig.”
“I’m going to use this to pay for my medication.”

These are just some of the plans that several beneficiaries from Catbalogan City have as more of them receive the 5kPFA.

Despite heavy rains, DSWD staff recently conducted payouts of the 5k Presidential Financial Assistance (5kPFA) to beneficiaries from different barangays – namely, San Andres, Munoz, Pupua, Silanga, Mercedes, Poblacion 1 and Payao. This financial aid was given in the form of a check worth P5,000 each.

Over-all, there are 3,769 5kPFA beneficiaries in Catbalogan City.
These recent payouts are in line with DSWD Regional Director Restituto Macuto’s efforts to fast-track the distribution of the 5kPFA.

There are 41,163 total eligible beneficiaries across Region VIII. As of June 2018, a total of 22,215 beneficiaries have already received the said aid. Additional payouts are being planned in the near future for the remaining 18,944 beneficiaries.

The 5kPFA is a financial aid given to the survivors of Super typhoon Yolanda who have not received any government assistance. The eligible beneficiaries were listed by people’s organizations and submitted to DSWD last November 2016. The 5kPFA has a fund of P1,000,000,000 from the Socio-Civics Fund of the Office of the President.
