As tropical depression Samuel makes its way across the Philippines, the Department of Social Welfare and Development stands ready for any emergencies.

As of November 19, the Regional Resource Operations Section (RROS) has already stockpiled relief items. These include family food packs (FFPs) and non-food items such as blankets, malongs, mosquito nets and sleeping mats.  These relief items are ready to be dispatched at the request of the LGUs.

Also, aside from material resources, DSWD has also mobilized its personnel to keep track of the weather disturbance. DSWD’s Quick Response Team has been alerted and is already rendering 24-hour duty. At the provincial level,  the Social Welfare Action Team leaders, together with the field Project Development Officers are coordinating with the local Municipal Social Welfare and Development Officers to gather updates on the progress of the storm. These updates are then consolidated by the Disaster Response Information Management Section (DRIMS).

DSWD also as a standby fund of P3,000,000 which can be used to purchase additional relief items if needed.
