DSWD Disaster Response Management Division planning its response operations for Tisoy

As of 1 PM today, Typhoon Tisoy (international name Kammuri) has been estimated 195 kilometers East of Sorsogon. It continues to move westward and is expected to make landfall over Catanduanes, Albay or Sorsogon between the evening of December 2 and early December 3.

In Region VIII, the province of Northern Samar and several municipalities in Eastern Samar and Samar have been placed under signal no. 3.

These municipalities include:
Eastern Samar: Can-avid, Dolores, Maslog, Oras, Arteche, Jipapad, San Policarpio

Samar: Catbalogan, Jiabong, Motiong, Paranas, San Jose de Buan, San Jorge, Pagsanghan, Tarangnan, Sta. Margarita, Gandara, Matuguinao, Calbayog, Tagapul-an, Almagro and Sto. Niño

The Department of Social Welfare and Development, through its Disaster Response Management Division, has already activated its Quick Response Team (QRT) since November 30 to continually monitor Tisoy’s movement. The QRT work in shifts around the clock and is now gathering information on the status of affected municipalities.

In preparation for Tisoy’s landfall, DSWD is ensuring that it has sufficient FFPs for affected municipalities using data gathered from its Predictive Analytics. DSWD has also stockpiled 1,000 FFPs in Northern Samar and 800 FFPs in Eastern Samar, which can be readily distributed once the need arises.
