The damaged house of Polancos’ family caused by a storm surge following Ursula.

The Local Government Unit of Capoocan in Leyte continues to assess the damages in their locality following typhoon Ursula which struck Eastern Visayas on December 24, 2019.

As the first responder in time of crisis, the LGU has started giving relief goods to Brgy. Poblacion Zone I and the coastal barangay of Libertad.

Now, the LGU is coordinating with the Department of Social Welfare Development (DSWD) for an augmentation of family food packs and conduct of relief operations to respond to the needs of 21 barangays of the municipality.

“In times like this, we need assistance from the DSWD to accommodate all to the victims here in Capoocan”, said Municipal Social Welfare Development Officer Dolores Cumpio.

Moreover, residents of Brgy. Pinamopoan,  said a storm surge of about 2 meters in height at 9 o clock in the evening of December 24.

As of to date, the onslaught of Ursula has caused some 4,057 partially damaged and 317 totally damaged houses.
