Local Government Units and the DSWD are working together on the ground so that the needs of families affected by the imposition of Community Quarantine are provided.

The LGU of Pintuyan, for instance, launched “Basura Mo Bigas Ko Project” in close coordination with the DSWD Municipal Action Team headed by Grace Manocsoc.

The project encourages families to make an Ecobrick in exchange for rice provided by the LGU. The DSWD team takes charge of the rice distribution.

Ecobrick is essentially a plastic bottle packed with non-biodegradable waste used as building materials to create structures and furniture.
The Local Government Units are doing innovative ways of helping families in need during COVID-19 pandemic.

DSWD’s Social Welfare Action and Development Teams (SWADTs) are set up in every province to provide technical assistance and resource augmentation to the LGUs.
