DSWD-F08 integrates measures for COVID-19 resiliency in the workplace

DSWD continues to protect its employees while providing unhampered delivery of social protection services amid the COVID-19 pandemic, through its Health and Safety Committee which leads in planning and directing health-related and health promotion and accident prevention programs in the workplace.

In light of the recent experiences wherein some employees came in contact with a confirmed COVID-19 case came the realization to expand the Health and Safety Committee to include the COVID-19 task force.

The task force was established to create and implement Standard Operation Procedure (SOP) for events where employees are confirmed as direct and secondary contacts of COVID-19 cases.

Among the activities undertaken is setting up a temporary holding facility for employees identified as COVID-19 suspects while awaiting transportation to their residences.

DSWD medical staff supervise the health developments of employees confirmed to have direct and secondary contacts to COVID-19 patients. Also, they monitor employees’ health information based on health checklists.

The social workers, on the other hand, provide emotional and psychosocial support interventions to address mental health and mental well-being of staff amid the pandemic outbreak.

Furthermore, the office also conducts regular disinfection of the DSWD regional extension and satellite offices.

The office provides face masks, alcohol and Personal Protective Equipment (PPEs) to employees as they interact and coordinate with partner beneficiaries and stakeholders.

The frontline services such as AICs, MTA, etc were set up in designated areas to limit the entry of transactions inside the office premises.

“The office implemented these health and safety measures as directed by Regional Director Marie Angela Gopalan as the chairperson of the Health and Safety committee to ensure the office continues to be a safe place as we adapt to the pandemic.” COVID-19 Task Force Chairperson and Chief for Administrative Division Clarito Logronio pointed out.

Director Marie Angela Gopalan emphasized that DSWD employees are considered non-medical frontliners who contribute essential services amid pandemic disease outbreaks; thus, it must only be appropriate to take care of them.
