The first batch of DSWD FO8’s Centers and Residential Care Facilities (CRCF) staff complete Basic Life Support training.

With the expert guidance of the Tacloban City Rescue Unit (TACRU), these Angels in Red Vests learned how to respond to basic emergencies and how to properly execute these life-saving actions, including cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and the Heimlich maneuver. During the two-day training, DSWD staff were able to practice these maneuvers, both on training dummies and in real life. The training culminated with TACRU evaluating each participant’s ability to perform these actions.

DSWD CRCFs provide a variety of services which cater to the needs of marginalized groups, such as abandoned, abused, and neglected children, women in difficult situations, victim-survivors of trafficking, and children in conflict with the law. These services include temporary shelter, the provision of psychosocial interventions, livelihood training, and healthcare services.

In Eastern Visayas, DSWD Filed Office 8 has four (4) CRCFs, including the Haven for Women, Home for Girls, Reception and Study Center for Children (RSCC), and Regional Rehabilitation Center for Youth (RRCY).
