LOOK: DSWD Field Office 8 recently celebrated the 36th founding anniversary of its Reception and Study Center for Children (RSCC).
During this event, DSWD FO8 Regional Director recognized and appreciated the agency’s partners who have supported and assisted the RSCC in carrying out its mandates. The anniversary was also highlighted by a celebration of a thanksgiving mass, a gift-giving event for the children, a testimony portion from three parents who adopted RSCC children, and a Staff Night, which showcased the talents of the staff.
As part of the celebrations, the Angels in Red Vests also took a moment to look back at the history and the milestones of RSCC. According to Center Head Myla Banasta, “Malaki na ang pinagbago ng RSCC. Dati, bungalow-style lang ang building namin. Kapag umuulan, nag-aalala na kami, kasi baka bumaha. Pero ngayon, two-storey na ang building natin. It is now equipped with amenities. Air-conditioned na ang mga silid. May CCTV na, may wifi. Ngayon, we are working in a very conducive environment. We ensure the well-being of the staff and most especially our RSCC residents. “
The RSCC also celebrated its Level Three Accreditation. This recognition was awarded by DSWD’s Standards Bureau last 2024, marking a significant milestone for RSCC, which was recognized as a Center of Excellence.
The RSCC is one of DSWD FO8’s Centers and Residential Care Facilities (CRCFs) which provides protection and rehabilitation services through temporary residential care to neglected, abandoned, abused and exploited children, children with special needs, children at risk, and children who are in need of alternative family care.
