Soon, 12 of the 19 women temporarily seeking refuge at the Regional Haven, will run a rolling store within the premises of the DSWD Institution Complex at Pawing, Palo in Leyte, where the said facility for women in distress is located.
Luz Davis, the officer-in-charge of the Regional Haven, said that the rolling store was conceptualized to help these women earn money out of the products they have made in past livelihood trainings the DSWD has provided to them.
“They will undergo first a Small Business Management Training on June 16 to 17, before our center’s residents start operating the store,” Davis announced.
The store will have on display ladies garment/accessories as well as kitchen, toilet, and laundry care products like dishwashing liquid, detergent powder, and fabric conditioner. Marissa Nartea, the center’s trainer, said these women-victims have underwent a skills training courtesy of Mom’s Care Manufacturing Company in 2009, such that they are now rushing into mass production as they don’t have enough of them as of to date.
Nartea revealed that the store will also be a refilling station of Mom’s Care. Hence, the said products will be sold at a cheaper price.
Regional Haven’s head Davis appeals to the public to support the rolling store as it is set to open this third week of June.
The center is also taking care of 22 dependents of said women, whose lives are threatened in their own homes, Davis reported.
