Regional Rehabilitation Center for Youth(RRCY)  started its operation in February 1981. Initially, it rented a residential structure on a 2,969 square meters lot, situated at Brgy. Sto. Nino, Tanauan, Leyte. It is along Maharlika Highway and only 22 kilometers away from Tacloban City. The rented lot was finally purchased by DSWD on July 15, 1985, while the residential facility was repaired, and additional structures were built.

The admitting capacity of the center is fifty children at any given time.

Target Clients:

• Male children In-Conflict–with-Law (CICL) who are between 9 years old and below 18 years old, either on suspended considering RA 9344 or pending trial.

Services:

• Group Living Services– Well balance, organized and non-formal education activities geared towards the achievement of treatment goals for the individual child and the group as a whole.

• Special/Non-Formal Education Services – Remedial education to a CICL who was forced to stop schooling because of his deviant behavior and commission of the offense. This is jointly coordinated, with the Department of Education.

PROGRAM IMPLEMENTATION:

Within a span of twenty-five (25) years, this Center/Facility has served a number of CICL from different provinces of Region VIII. The admitting capacity is fifty (50) at any given time. It has also undertaken different development projects and activities to ensure and improve surrounding that would contribute to the rehabilitation of CICL under its care and custody.

EVALUATION:

RRCY a Rehabilitation facility responds to the needs of CICL in Region VIII.
