This summertime, the DSWD Field Office Eight is urgently seeking some 7,634 workers regionwide, specifically in – school youth/students, out-of-school youth, college graduates/vocational courses who are unemployed, aged 18 years old to 30 years old.
The move is part of the Expanded Government Internship Program (GIP) of the national government, for the purpose of reaching out more students, out-of-school-youths, and even new graduates, before school starts. The DSWD will employ a total of 90, 869 young people for a period of 52 days, and will expend a total of Php 1, 314, 610, 856.00 !
“One of our end goals is to provide opportunity for both out-of-school and in-school youths a hands-on experience at working in various government agencies, which they could later use when they later decide to be part of the government workforce, “ DSWD Field Office Eight Director Leticia Diokno said. “This is likewise an opportunity for them to learn life skills in the workplace, at the same time earn money to augment for their school needs,” she added.
“They will be assigned to work in the DSWD’s institutions/centers, or at the Field Office, or in the communities, to assist in the Social Pension Program for Senior Citizens, or Supplementary Feeding Program, PANTAWID PAMILYA Program, Cash for Work/Disaster Risk Reduction Program, among others, Diokno added. The DSWD Regional Director also reported that those who will be assigned in the municipalities and cities , where the programs are implemented, will come from those areas or nearby localities.
Applications should be addressed to Director LETICIA T. DIOKNO, Regional Director, DSWD Field Office Eight, Tacloban City, and filed at the DSWD Field Office Eight at Magsaysay Boulevard in Tacloban City. For areas outside Tacloban City, applications can be sent via e-mail at fo8@dswd.gov.ph.
Ofelia Pagay, the focal person for the Expanded GIP, said interviews will be conducted at the different provinces. The schedule will be announced later.
