Region Eight was lucky to be host of a national event dubbed as SineBata : Kabataang Pinoy Media Festival, a project of Anak TV Incorporated, Plan Philippines, and various government agencies like the DSWD Field Office Eight under Regional Director Leticia Diokno.
The DSWD lent support to the two-day activity – the screening of entries last July 25, at the Philippine Information Agency (P.I.A.) Region Eight, and the awarding of winners the day after, at the Activity Center of the Robinson’s Place – Tacloban.
The above photo shows Director Diokno handing the award to the group of Primo Bulan, a high school student of Daram, Samar, with his short film entitled, “Pasok Na.” This was followed by the awarding of another winner, coming from Tacloban City, with an entry entitled “Melissa.”
Director Diokno applauded the major forerunners of this yearly undertaking, saying that the “children ought to have their voices heard, and the media festival is one good venue for their expressions to be know.” Child advocates/show business personalities Bobby Andrews and Boy Abunda.
