Remedios Galanta (left), 58, from Purok 8, Poblacion, Lope de Vega, Northern Samar, saw the the daily sacrifices of almost 1000 students including his 10-year old son, who would tread long and dangerous miles just to attend their classes. This was the primary reason why she volunteered for the Kalahi-CIDSS program in their barangay under the PAMANA implementation. Today, Purok 8 already boasts 14 units of street light and a concrete pathwalk leading to Lope de Vega Elementary School and Secondary High School which is already serving over 500 households. Aside from that, the community also finished two sub-projects under the National Community-Driven Development Program (NCDDP) funding. These projects include 1 unit high school building and an evacuation center which will benefit their own families against the threats of disasters of the ‘New Normal’. With the help of Nanay Remedios and other active volunteers, their community is already planning for the proposal of their next Kalahi-CIDSS sub-project which is the procurement of a Community Ambulance. #MaagapAtMapagkalingangSerbisyo #DSWDMayMalasakit
