The Kaisahang Buhay Foundation Incorporated (KBF) team from Manila paid a courtesy call, March 14,
to DSWD Regional Director, Restituto Macuto, before the conduct of its monitoring to the Phase III rehabilitation of the latter agency’s Reception and Study Center for Children (RSCC) at Pawing, Palo.
The former donated last year some 52, 500 Euros, or approximately Php2.7 M, for the rehabilitation of the badly – damaged Center wrought by super typhoon Yolanda. RSCC Head, Nida Jusay, revealed that the KBF sourced said funds from Holt International Children’a Services, Inc. in Oregon, U.S.A. of which the NGO is a branch organization.
Jusay bared that covered under Phase III are the Administrative Section, conference room, storeroom, receiving area, comfort rooms, and hallway, all at the ground floor of the building. Construction is now underway.
Meanwhile, KBF social worker, Helen Orita, reported that their entity also poured in some Php 600, 000.00 to the RSCC in 2014 and this fund was used for the purchase of equipment and facilities. She added that some Php 900,000.00 were also donated to the DSWD’s Regional Rehabilitation Center for Youth (RRCY) ar Barangay Sto. Nino in Tanauan, Leyte, in same year.
KBF Executive Director, Marilyn Manuel, lauded the RRCY under Head Social Worker, Marcelle Lim, how the donation was put to good use as it was invested on musical instruments. She added it is, indeed, helping as music is one good intervention at lessening the risk of re-offending among children.
The KBF team will also visit RRCY tomorrow. #DSWDMayMalasakit
