Yesterday, May 7, 138 elderly citizens confined inside the Maximum Security Compound of the Leyte Regional Prison in Cagbulo, Abuyog, Leyte received their grants on Social Pension from the DSWD Field Office VIII. This is the second time they were awarded; the first one was for the period covering the last quarter of 2017. The latest pay-out covers the first six months of the current year, thus totaling to three thousand pesos per recipient. Social worker, Yvonne Novillo, represented DSWD Regional Director Restituto Macuto, who diclosed that said senior citizens are tagged by the program as Persons Deprived of Liberty.
