Five families from the province of Leyte who religiously exemplify compliance to their co-responsibilities in the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program of the Department of Social Welfare and Development, and embody or demonstrate adopting Filipino values and strong family ties were given recognition by the regional office last September 7, 2012 in Matag-ob, Leyte in the presence of Secretary Corazon “Dinky” Juliano Soliman.
The award recipients were the mother-grantees of the identified model families namely: Charita Cabantac of Mayorga, Lucy Asna of Abuyog, Emelyn Montilla of Sta. Fe, Nilda Barbado of San Miguel, and Alicia Egos of Javier. Each family received plaqueof recognition, a certificate and a cash prize of P5,000 each.
The regional selection was based on the national mechanics where the identifiedmodel families must be a family-beneficiary of the program: consists of the father, mother, and child or children; must be endorsed by Parent-Leaders, Baranagay Captains or the Local Government Unit; and must be verified compliant to the conditions of the program thru the Compliance Verification System.Each province should have five families to be awarded, and from these model families, one will be selected as entry to the national level.
Their eligibility for the said search are based on the following: (1)a Filipino Family who is a beneficiary of the program, married, living together and with child/children who are also part of the PantawidPamilya, and has been a beneficiary of the program for at least one year; (2) a family who has good standing in the community with no derogatory records and has not been convicted of any administrative, criminal, civil case or cases involving moral turpitude in the last five years; (3) and aFamily whose income is not derived from gambling, prostitution, child labor, extortion and other similar illegal resources.
On the otherhand, the criteria for judging are: (1)100% compliance in all conditionality (25%); (2) practices and promotes healthy living such as backyard garden, clean home, knowledgeable about good healthy practices, involved in promoting good health habits(20%); (3) actively involved in community and environmental endeavour (20%); (4) demonstrates love and respect for the community including the environment (20%); (5) manages and utilizes cash grants properly (15%).
During the awarding, it was first pronounced that for the national category, it was the model family from Javier Leyte who will compete.
