It’s a monthlong celebration for the Pag-asa Youth Association of the Philippines (PYAP) Region Eight Chapter for its 38th year of existence, announced Reden Sabela, the Regional Federation President, who added that the anniversary date is on July 29.
Sabela revealed that the Tacloban City federation under president Jovelyn Caganon has been actively involved in activities. Starting July 9 to 13, the federation has set up a garage sale of “ukay-ukay” or used clothing at the Balyuan Building in Magsaysay Boulevard, Tacloban City.
On July 14 to 15, it sponsored a skills training on T-Shirt Printing in San Jose District of the City, as well as a poster making contest and quiz bee at the Balyuan building.
An orientation on the National Greening Program was held on July 21 at the Balyuan Convention Center, followed by a tree planting at Barangay Caibaan, Tacloban City, and on July 22, the so-called “PYAP Amazing Race and Laro ng Lahi” was conducted.
The height of the celebration will be on July 28 to 29 at the Robinson’s Place Activity Center, July 30 for the Forum on Gender Equality, Job Counselling, LIFE Seminar, and the Search for Ms. PYAP Tinkerbell. The last activitivies are in coordination with the Regional Federation.
The Pag-asa Youth Association of the Philippines, Inc. or PYAP, Inc. is duly constituted barangay-based organization of the out-of-school youth between 15 to 24 years old who are clientele of the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD). The PYAP, Inc. is organized nationwide and is federated from the municipal city/provincial, regional and national levels and duly recognized by SEC with SEC registered # 01328. The PYAP federation of different levels serves as a strategy that provides forum to discuss youth issues and concerns related to their projects and some up with the solutions/recommendations addressed to both the youth and other system involved in program planning and implementation. The PYAP, Inc. utilizes the DSWD’s Youth program called Unlad Kabataan Program (UKP) in order to carry out the goal of providing opportunities for PYAP members in order to actualize their potential and aspirations, experience self-fulfillment, contribute to the growth of his/her community and participate in the task of nation building.
