Person with Dreams: Onto greater things

This is the story of Jerson Completado , a differently-abled person and a former Pantawid beneficiary, who never stopped achieving greater things. Jerson Completado struggled to interact socially as he grew older due to his cleft palate at birth. His condition has an impact on his speech. Unfortunately, he even experienced being bullied due to his facial condition. Surgery seemed like a drastic measure given his family’s low socioeconomic standing. However, Jerson never gave up on these struggles; rather, he used them as a springboard to arise from them, inspired and motivated by the love and support of his family. MOTIVATION FROM HIS LOVED ONES Jerson’s family is the driving force behind his motivation to keep going. Their unwavering support and encouragement have helped him reach new heights. Further, Jerson’s father is a pastor, which has a significant influence on him, bringing him nearer to God. He is also thankful for his friends who also boost his self-confidence. GOVERNMENT’S AID Jerson values education and it’s his dream to finish his studies. It was a blessing for his family to be a grantee of the DSWD’s Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps). The program enormously helped him with his school needs and assisted him to continue his studies. When he entered college, he was also able to receive a scholarship of Tertiary Education Subsidy from the Commission on Higher Education (CHED). For Jerson, completing his education is a dream that he will not be able to achieve without the help from 4Ps and CHED. In July 2023, he received his Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Engineering from Biliran Province State University, Naval Biliran. Currently, he is employed at the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE). He proved that with his courage and with the support of his loved ones, he can achieve greater things. Further, their family exited from the Pantawid Pamilya in 2022. #BawatBuhayMahalagaSaDSWD (credits: DSWD 4Ps ML Edmond Cinco)
