DSWD Braces For Typhoon Season, Conducts Technical Assistance on MCC Use

The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Central Office recently provided technical assistance to DSWD Field Office 8 on the effective use of the Mobile Command Center (MCC).

Described as “timely and important” by Assistant Regional Director for Operations (ARDO) Antonio R. Dolaota, due to the prevailing typhoon season, the learning session addressed MCC operations, including equipment installation, ICT tools, troubleshooting, and vehicle maintenance.

Region 8 Disaster Response Cluster convenes for typhoon season preparations

The Region 8 (Eastern Visayas) Disaster Response Cluster convened on July 26, 2024, to strategize preparations for the typhoon season.

The meeting also discussed activities for National Disaster Resilience Month (NDRM) 2024, camp safety audit and roles of the Technical Working Group, harmonized reporting, and an update on the inventory of resources for disaster readiness.

DSWD FO8 continues Project LAWA at BINHI payout; over 1K Northern Samar beneficiaries receive CFWT grants

The Department of Social Welfare and Development Field Office 8 continued the payout for Project LAWA (Local Adaptation to Water Access) and BINHI (Breaking Insufficiency through Nutritious Harvest for the Impoverished) implementation in region 8, disbursing the allocated amount of over PHP9 million to 1,464 beneficiaries in five municipalities in Northern Samar.

PALO, Leyte – The 20-day learning sessions for the DSWD Tara, Basa Tutoring Program (TBTP) in Samar Province has concluded on Friday, July 26, 2024, in time for the opening of the regular classes next week.

A total of 1,981 enlisted learners and 1,977 parents from two cities and 19 municipalities have completed the reading tutorials and Nanay-Tatay sessions, respectively.
