The DSWD Field Office Eight, thru Regional Director Remia Tapispisan, awarded a Certificate of Appreciation to the Police Community Relations Branch of Tacloban City Police Office during the former’s flag ceremony last Monday, August 12, 2013, at the DSWD Field Office Eight Grounds.
The latter actively served as Resource Speakers during the conduct of the Family Development Sessions (FDS) for the entire month of July 2013 in Tacloban City which covers 121 barangays and 7,380 beneficiaries. They discussed topics on Family Disaster Preparedness and the Republic Act 9262 or the Law on Anti-Violence against Women and their Children.
Police Inspector Ma. Bella Rentuaya received the said token of appreciation in behalf of the whole Tacloban City Police Office. Rentuaya thanked the Department and shared that the Family Development Sessions have been a good venue in explaining and promoting family disaster preparedness and RA 9262, making the beneficiaries aware of how they can protect themselves from threats or violence brought about either by natural phenomena or just by another person. She added that they would be willing to serve as speakers again, should they be tapped for other future Pantawid Pamilya activities.
Attendance to FDS is one of the essential conditionalities of the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program which the beneficiaries have to religiously and actively comply. It is through FDS that they are equipped with various knowledge and skills in different aspects of life and in enriching positive values.
