Regional Director Nestor Ramos of the DSWD Field Office Eight announces today that field workers of the agency, assigned in the six provinces, are closely keeping in touch with local governments on their readiness against typhoon Nona.
These so-called Social Welfare Action and Development Teams (SWADTs) of the Field Office are sitting down in meetings of the Provincial/City/Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Councils (P/C/M DRRMCs) and thereafter, give immediate feedback to the main office in the region.
Meanwhile, the Quick Response Team (QRT) at the field office has been activated for a 24 – hour duty to monitor, receive information from the field, send reports to Central Office in Manila, as well as provide augmentation support in terms of manpower and goods to local government units, if needed.
“I have already instructed for some 2, 000 bags of rice to be delivered today to the three Samar provinces (expected to be hard – hit), “ Ramos further reported. He also said that military trucks have been coordinated with the Office of Civil Defense for the transport of the commodities.
The DSWD Regional Director has assured Secretary Corazon “Dinky” Soliman of enough standby commodities and fund amounting to over three million pesos.
Repacking of family food packs are ongoing, with 32 workers hired, via the “food-for-work” scheme, for the purpose.
