Rona Idlisan, second among eight children of Vilma, a housewife, and Romeo, a farmer and laborer, shared that being an Expanded Student Grants-In-Aid Program for Poverty Alleviation (ESGP-PA) grantee was a huge factor for her to become an honor student. She imparted that because of the said program, she is no longer confronted with agonizing financial issues. Hence, she became more confident and focused on studying, learning, and getting high grades. Eventually, she emerged as Cum Laude with the degree of Bachelor on Secondary Education, Major in Biological Science at the Leyte Normal University.
ESGP-PA is a program of the national government instituted by the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) in partnership with the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE), Department of Budget and Management (DBM) and State Universities and Colleges. It provides the grantees from identified Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program household beneficairies with access to higher education, which will eventually bridge them to opportunities for high value-added occupations and an improved quality of life.###
