Their sons were both military personnel who died in year 2013 while on military operations. The two hail from Eastern Samar province, too.
Celedonia Sabejon of Barangay Quirino, General MacArthur municipality, is mother of the late Pfc. Dominador Sabejon, Jr. , an AFP soldier who was killed in the Patikul, Sulu encounter on May 25, 2013. Meanwhile, Enrique Afable of Dolores, Eastern Samar is father to the late PO2 Enrique Afable, Jr. a PNP personnel who died in the Zamboanga siege on September 2013.
They lately requested financial assistance from the President’s Social Fund to keep their families going. They lost their sons who have been of help to them.
Last July of this year, the DSWD Field Office VIII awarded the families initial amounts of Php210,000.00 (for Sabejon) for banana chips production involving a total assistance of Php300, 000.00 and Php176, 555.00 (for Afable) for Pork Meat Vending valued at Php252, 222.00, at its Operations Control Room. It was a relief for the Sabejons and Afables !
An integral part of this assistance was the signing of the Memoranda of Understanding between the DSWD and the two families. The conditions for the release was that 70 % of the aid will be released upon submission to the DSWD by the recipients a proof of the entrepreneurial skills training from the DSWD or TESDA. On the other hand, the 30 % of the fund would be given, upon liquidation of the first amount.
In his brief message during the turn – over, DSWD Regional Director Restituto Macuto, emphasized that the recipients should use solely for the project indicated in the agreement. The official also cited that the DSWD has the authority to monitor the fund utilization, specially that the savings generated from the fund assistance need to be returned to the DSWD.
Such conditions are part of the contract, Macuto revealed.
On the part of the families, they pledge to abide with their respective contracts, thanking the DSWD and the Office of the President for said aid.##MayMalasakit
