This year’s 1st Quarter Regional Advisory Council (RAC) meeting of the DSWD Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps) FOVIII was held on May 24, Friday, at the Ironwood Hotel, Tacloban City.

Division Chief Paula Unay presided over the meeting wherein she highlighted the significance of the council’s continuous support in attaining the program’s goal–uplifting the well-being of the Pantawid households .

Highlights of the activity include the discussion on the Whole-of-Nation Approach for improving the well-being of the Pantawid beneficiaries wherein Leslie Anne Ruiz, the Regional Monitoring and Evaluation Officer (RMEO), talked through the continuum of interventions for the 4Ps households; presented the challenges of improving the well-being of the 4Ps households; and put emphasis on the need for convergence and complementation of resources among the partner stakeholders. Further, Hector Tuburan, the Save the Children Philippines Area Manager, presented the Scoping Study on Employment and Self-Employment Opportunities for 4Ps Youth in Ormoc City.

At the activity, the RAC members also conducted Interagency Commitment Setting and Workshop Planning on how they can support the 4Ps households through provision of livelihood and employment to uplift their level of well-being.

The meeting was attended by the RAC members were the Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR); Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE); Commission on Population and Development (CPD); Department of Trade and Industry (DTI); Department of Science and Technology (DOST); National Nutrition Council (NNC); Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG); Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA); National Economic and Development Authority (NEDA); Department of Budget and Management (DBM); Department of Agriculture (DA); University of the Philippines Manila School of Health Sciences (UPM-SHS); Plan International Pilipinas; and Save the Children Philippines.

4Ps is a poverty reduction strategy of the national government, with DSWD as the lead agency. Household beneficiaries are entitled to receive cash subsidies provided the conditions on health, nutrition, and education are followed. The program aims to foster necessary behavior for parents to adequately perform their duties and responsibilities, particularly in investing in their children’s future.
