A total of 204 Pantawid households in Tanauan Leyte received Php 25,000 each from the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) through the Enhanced Support Services Intervention (ESSI) yesterday, June 13, at the Amphitheater of the said town.

The Enhanced Support Services Intervention (ESSI) is a component of the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program and part of the internal case management interventions for the 4Ps households. It is a wide-ranged set of modalities responsive to the immediate needs of qualified individuals, families, and communities as reflected in the results of Family Risk and Vulnerability Assessment (FRVA) & Social Welfare and Development Indicator (SWDI) assessment.

The ESSI grants serve as the Pantawid households’ start-up capital, enabling them to receive a regular income that paves the way for improved well-being.

Hermenihilda Capidos, one of the Pantawid households that received ESSI grants, expressed how this livelihood intervention is a huge help to augment their source of income and stated that she plans to expand her Sari-sari store. She said, “ Dako ini na bulig para makadugang han amon pakabuhi. Pinaagi hini, maka-generate ako hin mas dako nga nga income para akon pamilya.”

[This is a huge help to augment our livelihood. Through this [livelihood intervention], I can generate bigger income for my family.]
