The Department of Social Welfare and Development Field Office VIII, through the Sustainable Livelihood Program (SLP), spearheaded the ceremonial signing of the Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) and implementation of SLP on July 5, 2024, at the DSWD FO VIII Regional Operations Center (ROC).
Partner-stakeholders from the regional and national government agencies, namely the Department of Agriculture RO VIII, Department of Trade and Industry RO VIII, Department of Justice—Parole and Probation Administration RO VIII, Department of Science and Technology, Presidential Commission for the Urban Poor, National Housing Authority RO VIII, Commission on Population and Development RO VIII, Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources, Philippine Crop Insurance Corporation, Philippine Carabao Center, National Irrigation Administration, Technical Skills and Development Authority RO VIII, and Agricultural Training Institute—Regional Training Center VIII, extended their participation in the said event.
Meanwhile, academic institutions represented by the Eastern Visayas State University (EVSU), Leyte Normal University (LNU), Visayas State University (VSU), VSU-Tolosa Campus, Abuyog Community College (ACC), Samar State University (SSU), and the Eastern Samar State University (ESSU) also graced the event.
Lastly, representatives from the financial business partners, non-government organizations (NGAs), and local government units (LGUs), namely the Rural Bank of Hilongos, Rural Bank of Calbayog Inc., Far East Bank Inc., Producers Savings Bank Corporation, Center for Empowerment and Resource Development Inc., Samar Crusade Against Poverty Inc., Leyte Regional Prison, and the Local Government Unit of Abuyog, Leyte, also took part in the ceremonial signing.
The ceremonial MOA signing activity was also focused on the presentation of the overview of Sustainable Livelihood Program Memorandum Circular No. 7, the discussion of the said MOA, primarily on the duties and responsibilities of the parties, and the delivery of the messages of commitment to sustainability of each partner.
This ceremony manifested the collective commitment to promote, strengthen, and sustain partnerships for the continued innovations of the Sustainable Livelihood Program in Eastern Visayas.
