The Department of Social Welfare and Development Field Office 8 continued the payout for Project LAWA (Local Adaptation to Water Access) and BINHI (Breaking Insufficiency through Nutritious Harvest for the Impoverished) implementation in region 8, disbursing the allocated amount of over PHP9 million to 1,464 beneficiaries in five municipalities in Northern Samar.

Each beneficiary received PHP7,500 for participating in 20 days of cash-for-work and training (CFWT). The payouts were conducted from July 23 to 26 in the municipalities of Catubig, Lope De Vega, Silvino Lubos, Gamay, and Lapinig.

The grants were based on the regional daily minimum wage rate for the year the fund was allocated, which was PHP375 per day.

Project LAWA at BINHI aims to strengthen the resilience of poor and vulnerable families during severe droughts, addressing food insecurity and water scarcity exacerbated by climate change. The beneficiaries include families of farmers, fisherfolk, indigenous peoples, and other groups identified as vulnerable by Listahanan 3 or through assessments by the Local Social Welfare and Development Office.
