With the goal of equipping SLPAs with the technical competencies essential for the sustainability and success of their associations, the DSWD FO VIII Sustainable Livelihood Program led the conduct of its Sustainability Symposium for Sustainable Livelihood Program Associations (SLPAs) in Eastern Visayas on June 11 (Batch 1) and July 3, 2024 (Batch 2).

The Sustainability Symposium was conducted to provide an opportunity for the SPAs to learn about markets available through the SLP, Supplementary Feeding Program (SFP), and Food Stamp Program.

Further, capacity-building sessions were also provided on Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) requirements and processes to avoid penalties, and the actual registration of PhilGEPS was also facilitated to enable SLPAs to participate in government procurement.

SLP is a community-based program that provides capacity building to improve the program participants’ socioeconomic status. As a component of the convergence strategy, the program aims to serve the beneficiaries of the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program, hoping to sustain and expand beyond the five-year intervention and the socio-economic benefits gained.
