A total of 1,977 parents across Samar Province received cash incentive for completing the Nanay-Tatay Sessions of the DSWD Tara, Basa Tutoring Program.

The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Field Office VIII on Tuesday, August 20, concluded the series of payout covering two cities and 19 municipalities.

Under the cash-for-work component of the program, each parent received PHP4,700 equivalent to the 20-day Nanay-Tatay sessions they attended from July 1-26, 2024.

These learning sessions aim to empower parents and guardians with knowledge and skills to support their children’s education and improve family dynamics.

In Samar, the program also served 1,981 learners and 375 college students who carried out the learning sessions for learners and parents.

College students who served as tutors and Youth Development Workers received PHP8,100 cash incentive to support their basic needs in school. This is on top of the capacity development and service credit they earned for participating the program.
