The Department of Social Welfare and Development Field Office VIII launched the Walang Gutom 2027: Food Stamp Program in 4 Redemption Sites on August 5–6, 2024.
A total of 763 beneficiaries came from 4 Redemption Sites: Ormoc City, Kananga, Palompon, and Hindang Leyte, which were composed of 8 municipalities, namely: Albuera, Isabel, Matag-ob, Merida, Bato, Hilongos, Inopacan, Matalom, and Baybay City, which benefited from the said program.
The program will provide PHP 3,000.00 worth of monthly food credits through an Electronic Benefit Transfer (EBT) card, through which beneficiaries can purchase a variety of food items containing carbohydrates, proteins, fruits, and vegetables from DSWD-accredited stores.
The Walang Gutom Program of the Department of Social Welfare and Development in the Philippines is aimed at providing food assistance to marginalized families and individuals who are in need. It aims to alleviate hunger and improve the nutritional status of low-income households by providing them with access to nutritious foods.
