A total of 375 tutors and Youth Development Workers (YDWs) under the DSWD Tara, Basa Tutoring Program (TBTP) in Samar Province received their cash incentive on August 1 and 2, 2024.

The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Field Office VIII (Eastern Visayas) led the payout at the Northwest Samar State University (NWSSU) and Samar State University (SSU) in the cities of Calbayog and Catbalogan, respectively.

Each student received a maximum amount of PHP8,100 equivalent to the 20-days learning sessions they conducted from July 1-26, 2024.

In the province, the program covered 19 municipalities and two cities, serving a total of 1, 981 learners and 1,977 parents.

During the payout, one YDW shared that more than the incentive he received was the opportunity to impart his knowledge that made a difference to the parents.

“As a future teacher, I was able to help our community, our parents by sharing my knowledge. I am very thankful to DSWD because aside that we are helping the community, we are also learning through this experience,” said John Michael Bacurio, Bachelor of Secondary Education (BSEd) student from SSU.

The DSWD Field Office VIII is set to conduct the payout for parents in the next two weeks.
