In an effort to strengthen partnerships and address issues, concerns, and gaps in the implementation of the Social Pension Program and Centenarian Program, the DSWD Field Office VIII, through the Social Pension Program, initiated a succeeding Fiduciary Management Activity with 143 partner LGUs in Eastern Visayas (EV) in July 30-31, August 1-2, and August 6-9, 2024.
The activity united all the Provincial and Local Social Welfare and Development Officers (P/LSWDOs), City/Municipal Accountants and Treasurers, and their representatives to discuss updates on the physical and financial accomplishments of each LGU on their first semester implementation of the program, provide orientation on the effectiveness of Memorandum Circular No. 6 series of 2024 as a guideline for this year’s implementation, and discuss the revisions of the Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) between the field office and the respective LGUs that would influence the service delivery of the stipend to its beneficiaries amid the change of the frequency of distribution to a quarterly basis.
Furthermore, the program presented the pilot implementation of digital payment as one of the delivery schemes and modalities for the upcoming year, 2025.
The Social Pension Program and Centenarian Program Management Office, in partnership with the local government units, are in preparation for the needed requirements for its second semester implementation, still under the Transfer of Fund (ToF) Modality for the whole region.
