PALO, Leyte – The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Eastern Visayas has officially welcomed 35 newly-appointed and contracted employees in an oath taking ceremony here on Tuesday, October 1, 2024.

RD Grace Q. Subong, administered the oath of office to 26 Contract of Service (COS) personnel and nine existing employees promoted to permanent and contractual positions.

In a short message, Leah Abarquez, now a permanent Social Welfare Officer II, shared that it took her patience and hard work to attain this position.

“I would like to thank DSWD for this opportunity. Just like the rest you of here, I was once a COS employee and in my 17 years of service in this agency, I gained a lot of experiences and learned so much from them,” she said.

Meanwhile, RD Grace expressed her sincere congratulations and welcomed all the newly hired and promoted personnel to the organization.

She reminded them to always imbibe the spirit of “Laging handa!” as being part of DSWD means commitment and service to others before self.

“If your previous works demand your time, more so now that you are part of DSWD. You were hired because you are qualified and not for any other reason. So, take care of your position regardless of status,” she underscored.

The Human Resource Management and Development Division (HRMDD) of the field office also took the opportunity to orient the new employees on the policies and programs of the department.
