After attaining a Self-Sufficiency Level of Well-being, the 100 Pantawid households from Hilongos, Leyte graduated from the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps). They underwent Pugay-Tagumpay Ceremonial Graduation on Tuesday, October 22, at the town’s Hilongos Gymnasium.

DSWD Undersecretary for NHTS and 4Ps Vilma Cabrera, DSWD Regional Director Grace Subong, Municipal Mayor Manuel Villahermosa, and Provincial Social Welfare and Development Officer (PSWDO) of Leyte Vivian Claros graced the ceremony.

The Sangguniang Bayan (SB) members, Municipal Advisory Council (MAC) members, and key partner stakeholders also attended.

In his message, Hon. Manuel Villahermosa, highlighted that the Pugay-Tagumpay served as a “celebration of hard work and success of [the] beneficiaries.” He added that the 4Ps has been a partner in helping the disadvantaged ‘Hilongosnon ‘families rise out from poverty.

As part of the aftercare programs and services, the LGU Hilongos provided an exit package to the graduate households through an Identification Card. This Card serves as their entitlement to avail different programs and services of the LGU such as but not limited to Skills and Livelihood trainings, Job Referral or Placement Program, Medical Assistance, etc whichever are applicable to the household’s needs.

Meanwhile, Undersecretary Cabrera emphasized that the different key partner stakeholders are always ready to help the graduate households sustain their level of well-being even after exit from program such as what the LGU Hilongos is doing.

To date, there are 265 graduate households in Hilongos this year, which attained a Self-Sufficiency Level of Well-being. Self-sufficiency refers to the ability of the household to support their daily basic needs; and develop and use the necessary skills and awareness to cope with crises and challenges.
