The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Field Office 8 joined the nation in observing the National Women’s Month Celebration this March, anchored on the sub-theme “Babae sa Lahat ng Sektor, Aangat ang Bukas sa Bagong Pilipinas,” strengthening gender equality and women empowerment.
To formally commence the month-long effort, on 3 March, the DSWD FO 8 Angels in Red Vest wore purple tops alongside the office decoration contest to signify solidarity of the celebration.
Throughout March, the DSWD will conduct fora on sectoral issues such as HIV, Challenges of Solo Parents, Teenage Pregnancy and Others, which will be live-streamed for public viewing. Further, there will be a Product Exposition Cum Oath Taking of the Regional Officers for the Kalipunan ng Liping Pilipina (KALIPI)- a DSWD-led women federation, to celebrate women in leadership and entrepreneurship. These series of activities aim to intensify advocacy and foster discussions revolving gender-fair practices and policy reforms.
The Department of Social Welfare and Development continues to support the Philippine Commission on Women in efforts to strengthen call in honoring the efforts of women in all sectors and to build a future wherein no woman is left behind.
