As part of the Women’s Month Celebration, the Department of Social Welfare and Development Field Office 8 and Holy Infant College partnered to engage college students from medical and health-related courses in a discussion on Gender and Development (GAD) and Violence Against Women and their Children (VAWC).
Future psychometricians, psychologists, nurses, and other health professionals play a vital role in the multi-disciplinary response to gender-based violence, particularly in providing psychosocial support, conducting psychological evaluations, and assisting in medicolegal examinations. Their expertise ensures that victim-survivors receive trauma-informed care, proper documentation, and critical medico-legal support, which are essential in both recovery and the pursuit of justice. By equipping future professionals with a gender-sensitive and survivor-centered approach, they are empowered to become advocates for the rights and welfare of women and children in their respective fields.
DSWD FO-8 remains committed to fostering a more gender-sensitive society, where professionals across all sectors contribute to the advancement of women’s rights and well-being.
