The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) has completed the distribution of guidebooks for tutors and Youth Development Workers (YDWs) in Tacloban City.
A total of 477 student-beneficiaries from Leyte Normal University and Eastern Visayas State University received individual copies of the knowledge product they will use during the 20-days reading tutorials and Nanay-Tatay sessions of the Tara, Basa Tutoring Program.
The field office here distributed the materials during the first batch of 5-day Capability Building Activity for tutors and YDWs which began on March 31, 2025.
For this year’s expansion of the program, the field office has a total of target of 1,508 college students, 5,040 learners, and 5,040 parents in Samar province and the cities of Tacloban and Ormoc.
TBTP is a reformatted educational assistance where qualified students from low-income families will be deployed to elementary schools to conduct reading tutorials and parenting sessions.
In return for their service rendered, they will receive a daily pay equivalent to the prevailing minimum wage in the region.
