A total of 252 college students from Eastern Visayas State University (EVSU) – Ormoc Campus completed the 5-day Capability Building for Tutors under DSWD’s Tara, Basa! Tutoring Program.

The Department of Social Welfare and Development led the activity in Ormoc City from April 7-11, 2025, with a pool of resource persons from the Department of Education and EVSU.

The batch of tutors will be deployed in selected schools in Ormoc City to conduct reading tutorials to struggling or non-reader incoming Grade 2 pupils for 20 days between May 19 to June 14, 2025.

In return for their service, the student-beneficiaries will receive cash-for-work equivalent to the number of days rendered based on the prevailing daily minimum wage in the region.
