In line with its commitment to empower women and promote inclusive social protection, the DSWD FO 8 conducted an orientation on the Expanded Solo Parent Welfare Act (RA 11861) for the regional officers of Kalipunan ng Liping Pilipina (KALIPI) during a recently held Coaching and Mentoring Session, a leadership capacity building activity.

KALIPI, a women’s organization composed of grassroots leaders and members, plays a crucial role in disseminating laws and services for vulnerable sectors, especially in far-flung communities where access to information is limited.

The orientation aimed to deepen the participants’ understanding of the provisions, benefits, and mechanisms under the Expanded Solo Parent Welfare Act, enabling them to advocate for and support solo parents in their respective communities.

This activity forms part of DSWD FO 8’s continuous efforts to strengthen the knowledge and leadership capacity of local women leaders, equipping them with tools to become effective advocates of government programs and services that uplift the lives of marginalized sectors.
