The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Field Office VIII has started the payout for the 3,900 target partner-beneficiaries of Project LAWA at BINHI (Local Adaptation to Water Access and Breaking Insufficiency through Nutritious Harvest for the Impoverished) yesterday, April 29, 2025.

Each beneficiary will receive Php8,100.00 for participating in the 20-day cash-for-training-and-work program, based on the prevailing minimum wage in Eastern Visayas, which is Php405.00 per day.

On the first day of the simultaneous payout, a total of 2,337 beneficiaries received their grants. These include beneficiaries from the municipalities in Eastern Samar (Balangiga, Oras, and Quinapondan), Northern Samar (Capul, Lapinig, and Pambujan), Samar (Catbalogan City, Sta. Rita, and Sta. Margarita), and Southern Leyte (Bontoc, Libagon, and San Juan). The remaining 1,563 beneficiaries are scheduled to receive their cash grants today.

Project LAWA at BINHI seeks to promote sustainable livelihoods, address food insecurity, and strengthen community resilience to climate-related challenges, not only in Eastern Visayas but across the country.
