In line with the National Solo Parents Week celebration, the Department of Social Welfare and Development Field Office 8 conducted an orientation on the Expanded Solo Parents Welfare Act (RA 11861) for solo parents in Catbalogan City, Samar.
The activity provided solo parents with information on their rights, qualifications, documentary requirements, and available benefits under the law. It also clarified common issues on eligibility and application processes, addressing confusions that have persisted since the law’s implementation.
Aside from raising awareness, the orientation served as a venue for solo parents to share their challenges and concerns.
Through continuous engagements like this, DSWD FO VIII ensures that solo parents are better informed, properly assisted, and empowered to access the full benefits of the law.
