The KALAHI-CIDSS Area Coordinating Teams of Daram, Gandara, and Marabut, Samar facilitated a Philippine Government Electronic Procurement System (PhilGEPS) Orientation to select barangay officials and/or representatives from the said municipalities, respectively.
Each of the session focused on providing the latest updates and procedures related to the PhilGEPS platform in order to guide barangay officials on the process of registering and managing their own PhilGEPS accounts to ensure compliance with government procurement requirements.
This initiative aimed to equip barangay officials with the knowledge and appreciation of the Philippine Government Electronic Procurement System (PhilGEPS) and its vital role in public procurement. By being registered in PhilGEPS, barangays gain access to a centralized online platform where they can post procurement opportunities, receive competitive bids from qualified suppliers, and ensure transparency and accountability in the procurement process.
The orientation emphasized how PhilGEPS promotes good governance by reducing opportunities for corruption, encouraging competition among suppliers, and standardizing procurement procedures. It also enables barangays to comply with national procurement laws and guidelines, especially those mandated by the Government Procurement Reform Act (RA 9184).
Through this activity, barangay officials and community members become better prepared to carry out procurement activities more efficiently, transparently, and in alignment with government standards.
