The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Field Office 8 immediately extended financial assistance to the families affected by a vehicular accident in Barangay San Jose, Tacloban City, on June 10, 2025.
Based on initial reports, the accident involved a passenger van from Ormoc City that crashed into a lamp post near the Daniel Z. Romualdez (DZR) Airport in San Jose. Ten passengers sustained serious injuries and are currently receiving medical treatment, while one individual was confirmed dead.
Through the Assistance to Individuals in Crisis Situation (AICS) program, the agency provided PHP10,000 each to the 11 families of the victims, amounting to a total of PHP110,000 in cash aid. The assistance serves as initial support to help the families address their immediate needs following the incident.
Meanwhile, the agency continues to coordinate with the Local Social Welfare and Development Offices (LSWDOs) to ensure appropriate support is given to the affected families. The AICS Program aims to provide prompt assistance to individuals and families facing crises such as accidents, illness, or death.
