Finally, the DSWD Field Office Eight will be moving in to a newer and better building anytime this first week of August, DSWD Regional Director Remia Tapispisan reported today. The location is just within the field office compound, at the back of the old building, situated at Magsaysay Boulevard in Tacloban City.
Last week, a blessing and ribbon – cutting ceremony for the newly – constructed Phase One Building was held, with the presence of some officials from the local and national government. On hand to witness the affair were Leyte’s first district Board Member Ranulfo Abellanosa (representing Provincial Governor Leopoldo Dominic Petilla), Executive Assistant, Bering Valenzuela, representing Tacloban Mayor Alfred Romualdez, Philippine Information Agency Regional Director, Erlinda Olivia Tiu, Project Engineer, Marina Bautista, representing Department of Public Works and Highways Regional Director, Rolando Asis, and resident auditor Anita Merida, for the Commission on Audit Region Eight.
DSWD Regional Director Tapispisan, in her welcome message, announced that the 18 – million peso worth building is just the phase one of the entire proposed structure of the regional office. She said that it is now high time that the field office undergo a total facelift because the old building is no longer safe and conducive for work, as workforce is growing !
To date, there are over a thousand employees and workers assigned in the whole region.
