The Department of Social Welfare and Development Field Office VIII is currently preparing for the Second Cycle Household Assessment under the National Household Targeting System for Poverty Reduction (NHTS-PR) in the third quarter of 2013.

The National Household Targeting Unit (NHTU) VIII will be assessing a total of 822,305 households in the entire region. The regionwide household assessment is performed to collect socio-economic and household members’ information.

To ensure quality of the data collected during the enumeration, the DSWD requests the full cooperation of the Local Government Units and the residents of Region VIII.

The NHTS-PR assessment is conducted every three years to ensure the integrity of the system. In the 2009 enumeration, there were 335,208 identified poor households out of 719, 273 households assessed in Eastern Visayas.

The NHTS-PR is an information management system that provides data on poor households eligible to be classified beneficiaries of DSWD’s social protection programs and its stakeholders.

Provides 2,645 Project-Based Jobs

Based on the approved authority to hire, the regionwide assessment will require 2,645 project-based field staff to be deployed soon in the six provinces. These include Area Coordinators, Area Supervisors, Enumerators, Verifiers and Encoders.

The above field staff will be responsible in gathering the information needed for the updating of the database.

The DSWD FO VIII conducted simultaneous screening/recruitment last August 2013. Applicants from clustered municipalities were gathered in strategic locations to facilitate a more efficient screening process.

The screening of shortlisted applicants from Tacloban City and Ormoc City is currently being conducted until September 6, 2013 in the DSWD Field Office, Magsaysay Boulevard and Ormoc City Hall respectively.
