DSWD Secretary Corazon Dinky Soliman this week exhorted Yolanda survivors to avail of the Mobile Civil Registration Project, as she lauded the non – government organizations which were behind the said endeavor. The DSWD top official was keynote speaker of the launching of said project held at the Tierra Milagrosa Resort in Barangay Arado in Palo, Leyte.
“Katulong ito sa pagbangon niyo muli,’’ Secretary Soliman said before the participants composed of volunteers, lawyers, para-legals, and partner agencies. She emphasized the value of recovering and reconstituting civil records and identity documents after each disaster.
Further, she said, “ we can’t avail of benefits and claims.” Ang importante kikilananin ka bilang isang mamayan ng isang munisipyo o syudad (the important thing is that you will be identified as a citizen of your municipality or city), the Secretary added.
The DSWD top official described the project as a wonderful initiative. She thanked the IDEALS (Initiatives for Dialogue and Empowerment through Legal Services) for coming up with the project, as well as the OXFAM and United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNCHR) for being the primary partner of the former and sharing its resources.
Said Secretary Soliman, ’if we can have more of this, our recovery and rehabilitation will not be far behind.”
